Couple Brings Forward Wedding Date So Their Dog With Cancer Can Attend
When Estelle and Danny decided on a date in May for their wedding, they were hoping for a lovely UK Spring day to celebrate their marriage. However, when they found out their beloved Bullmastiff, Brucie had only four months to live, their priorities changed drastically.

Five-year-old Brucie had been rushed to hospital in December after showing signs of oxygen depletion. After discovering a large, cancerous lump on his chest, vets operated and realized Brucie had an extremely aggressive type of cancer.
Estelle and Danny were advised Brucie may not even see it through the month, let alone until their wedding in May. But the couple couldn't bear the thought of going through with their special day without their beloved Brucie by their side.
“Every day my heart is broken because he's dying and there's nothing I can do about it, except love him and make memories,” Estelle said.
“Our beautiful boy had to be there,” she later wrote in a Facebook post.
The couple gave up the large deposit they had put down on their wedding venue and rescheduled their entire wedding to just three weeks after Brucie's diagnosis.
Despite having to sacrifice their dream wedding venue, the caterers they had already paid for, as well as many guests who were unable to make it at such short notice, for Estelle it was well and truly worth it.
"Having Brucie there with me on the day was the most important thing, hence why we changed it,” she said.
“I think some people think we are nuts for changing it, as some people see him as just a dog, but to me he's a lot, lot more.”
Estelle and Danny were married in January, with their beloved Brucie wearing a special tux and starring front and center in their beautiful wedding photos.
"I think Brucie really enjoyed it the day. He came to the evening party for an hour but got too tired, so had to go home to sleep his busy day of fuss off,” Estelle said.
Two months after Brucie's diagnosis, Estelle and Danny are doing everything they can to ensure Brucie has the very best life he possibly can for his final months.
"I love him more than anything.”
