Woman Learns The Hard Way Not To Mess With Breastfeeding Moms After She Threatens Them Online
Let's face it, it's hard to be a mom today. You pretty much cannot do anything right. Courtesy of the Internet and social media, every choice you make as a mother is subject to nit-picking, criticism, and scrutiny. It's for those reasons precisely that a lot of mothers find themselves in internet communities with other like-minded moms. Sometimes these sorts of groups can be a cesspool for negativity, but a lot of times they are a source of empowerment and support unparalleled in our modern society that shoves independence on parents and tears away the village mentality that helped humanity survive as long as it has.

One of the most tumultuous parenting topics today is definitely breastfeeding versus formula feeding. Fights rage on across social media in support of, defense of, or attacking one another... way too much of that. One area that can be particularly difficult to navigate is the #NormalizeBreastfeeding movement. Humans would never have survived if we couldn't have breastfed our infants and toddlers throughout existence, it is a completely normal biological function that has stood the test of time. Yet for one reason or another over the last 50-70 years, breastfeeding struggled to make it through the multi-decade process of sexual repression where women's bodies especially became a volatile subject matter, not for the faint of heart. In the process, these non-sexual organs became fetishized and poured shame on breastfeeding mothers that still lingers today.
Fierce breastfeeding and mothering advocate, Kristy helps run an entire network devoted to breastfeeding support and education. On her Facebook page, she has over 1.2 million followers and regularly encounters breastfeeding moms who have been harassed and degraded. She is a great source of education and empowerment for breastfeeding moms and anyone who follows a peaceful parenting philosophy.
Why do women need such passionate breastfeeding support? Well, take a look at this character as a shining example of how breastfeeding mothers are treated far too often for doing nothing more than breastfeeding their babies.
Carly swears violence on public breastfeeding mothers:
I’m not sorry – the next female that tries to whip her boob out to breastfeed in front of my kids will get a black eye, move that baby [because] I’ll punch it too #zerocare #why #inpublicletsjustshowkidsboobs #notmine.
Inspired by modern movements to counteract the deplorable way mothers are treated for nursing their babies and living their lives, the breastfeeding community saw Carly's public threat and they were not having it.
Breastfeeding moms are good at a lot of things but one thing that really raises the bar is how they stick up for each other, and they got together really fast over this public threat Carly issued.
Honestly, we have no clue what Carly was hoping to achieve with this follow up response but it really didn't do her any favors or excuse her deplorable initial response. In fact, it really just made things worse.
Take it how you will, some people complain about being held accountable with real-life consequences to their Internet bullying, but a lot of people will say Carly and others like her bring these sorts of consequences on themselves.
Carly made the mistake of posting a violent and derogatory post on the Internet, all while exposing her work history on her profile. Which naturally, led to a whole lot of messages being sent to her employer wanting to know, "is this the sort of person you're proud to employ?"
It was not.
Here's a few pro-tips:
Don't mess with the breastfeeding community.
Get over your weird hangups about boobs, especially when it comes to people using them what they were biologically designed for: feeding babies.
Don't be toxic on the internet.
Don't be like Carly.
